The Fifth Council of the Research Society is about to expire and a general meeting of the Council will be held in October 2010. Executive Vice Chairman Zhang Bihui and Secretary-General Yang Xiangping reported on the task requirements and time arrangements for the change of office. After full discussion, a preparatory plan for the change of office was formed, and a working group for the change of office was established, which clarified the directors and executive directors of the sixth council., The principles for the selection of vice-chairman and chairman. At the meeting, Executive Vice Chairman Zhang Bihui reviewed the main work of the Fifth Council and reported on the main points of the work in 2010, including the organization of the general meeting, the annual meeting of the Research Association and the sub-forum of the annual meeting of the China Association for Science and Technology, policy consultation, research on the history of the society, construction of websites and member management systems, etc.
Discussions were held on recent priorities and future developments, and many valuable suggestions were made. For example, to meet national and local needs, strengthen policy consultation and subject research; set up a publishing fund to support the publication of a series of books on science and science and technology policies; actively carry out training on the "scientific concept of development" and other contents; hold a "cross-strait doctoral forum" to promote academic exchanges among young people; set up an annual doctoral forum to better explore and train young talents; further investigate and study the reward system of the society, set up the Academy Award at the right time; improve the expert information base and speed up the update of the academic dynamics of the website.
Finally, Chairman Fang Xin made a concluding speech, putting forward requirements for the development of the research society from the aspects of transition work, policy consultation, academic exchanges, talent training, hosting publications, and society construction, and expressed his gratitude to the executive directors for their support and work over the years.
