"2011 Cross-Strait Regional Cooperation and Coordinated Development" Seminar Held in Taiwan

The 2011 Cross-Strait Regional Cooperation and Coordinated Development Forum was grandly held at Kaohsiung University in Taiwan on November 4, 2011. This forum was co-sponsored by the Chinese Society for Science and Technology Policy, Kaohsiung University in Taiwan and Fuzhou University to promote Cross-strait scholars


The 2011 Cross-Strait Regional Cooperation and Coordinated Development Forum was grandly held at Kaohsiung University in Taiwan on November 4, 2011. This forum was co-sponsored by the China Science and Technology Policy Research Association, Kaohsiung University in Taiwan and Fuzhou University. Scholars on both sides of the strait jointly explore the road of cross-strait coordinated development under the background of globalization, and study how to effectively promote future cross-strait exchanges and cooperation in regional economic and trade, technology, education, culture and urban development.

On the morning of November 4, the opening ceremony of the seminar was presided over by Professor Ye Wenguan, Dean of the School of Engineering of Kaohsiung University, and Professor Huang Yingzhong, President of Kaohsiung University, attended the meeting and delivered a welcome speech. This forum was highly valued by the political and academic circles on both sides of the strait. Professor Wang Jian, vice president of Fuzhou University, delivered a speech at the meeting and exchanged souvenirs with Kaohsiung University. Gao Xiangui, Director Secretary of the Taiwan Economic Construction Commission, gave a special speech on "The Golden Decade of Taiwan's Emerging Industries", and Researcher Mu Rongping, Director of the Institute of Science and Technology Policy and Management Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave a special speech on "Cultivating and Developing Strategic Emerging Industries and Promoting Cross-Strait Regional Technology and Economic Cooperation. 19 mainland experts and scholars from 12 universities and research institutes including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology Development Strategy, Zhejiang University, Northeastern University, and Fuzhou University attended the meeting. The forum also attracted more than 200 people to attend the meeting and related activities.

The theme of this forum is "Cross-Strait Regional Cooperation and Coordinated Development: Development of Emerging Industries", focusing on the development of emerging industries in strengthening cross-strait regional development and industrial exchanges, and creating a win-win future. Mainland scholars Chen Jin, Ling Dan, Lei Desen, Chen Fan, Sui Yinghui, Shang Zhicong, Liu Dong, Xi Yongqin, Ren Zhongbao, etc., as well as from Taiwan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Kaohsiung University, Donghai University, Yishou University, Chung Cheng University, A total of 22 experts and scholars from both sides of the strait from Taiwan and representatives of the business community from Kaohsiung Normal University and Shixin University gave reports. Scholars from both sides of the strait exchanged and discussed the development of strategic emerging industries, economic and trade cooperation and management, educational exchanges and cooperation, science and technology and cultural undertakings, urban development and planning, politics, law and social policies, tourism and leisure, etc. The content covers the exchanges and cooperation issues in regional economy and trade, science and technology, education, culture, and urban development that are of common concern to both sides of the strait. At the same time, it focuses on how to strengthen cross-strait regional development, especially the coordinated development of Fujian and Taiwan, how to achieve industrial docking, and how to effectively play the government, The role of universities and other issues have been extensively and valuable discussed.

In the two special speeches specially arranged for this forum, Gao Xiangui, director secretary of the Taiwan Economic Construction Commission, from the perspective of Taiwan's "Golden decade" emerging industry development strategy and cross-strait links to grasp the business opportunities of emerging industries, proposed that the two sides of the strait can use diversified economic cooperation mechanisms to work together to develop emerging industries, develop their own brands, enhance the competitiveness of cross-strait industries, enter the global market, and share the huge business opportunities of emerging industries in the new century. The special speech by researcher Mu Rongping, director of the Institute of Science and Technology Policy and Management Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, analyzed that innovation and development has become the world consensus, the focus of the development of strategic emerging industries, and how regional cooperation can create a win-win situation, and proposed that innovation capacity building will bring The analysis of new opportunities and other aspects left a deep impression on everyone.

Through exchanges between scholars on both sides of the strait, this meeting enhanced the participants' further understanding of the development history and environment of the two sides of the strait, and was full of confidence in promoting the win-win future of emerging industries on both sides of the strait. Participants generally believed that there is no doubt about the necessity of cross-strait cooperation in emerging industries, and hoped that scholars on both sides of the strait, especially young scholars, can further expand cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, seek common plans for cross-strait development, and create a new situation.

After the meeting, a delegation of mainland scholars visited Taiwan's Sun Yat-sen University, Chenggong University, Taiwan Jiaotong University, Hsinchu Science and Technology Park, Riyueguang Company, and Taiwan Natural Science Museum. They were warmly welcomed and received wherever they went. Strengthening exchanges and cooperation between scholars on both sides of the strait conducted pragmatic discussions.
