The 31st Session of the 12th China Association for Science and Technology Annual Conference-Cross-Strait Regional Cooperation and Coordinated Development Seminar Held Successfully

The seminar on cross-strait regional cooperation and coordinated development at the 31st sub-venue of the 12th annual meeting of the China association for science and technology was solemnly held in Fuzhou city, Fujian province from November 1 to 3, 2010. as one of the sub-venues of the 2010 annual meeting of the China association for science and technology, the conference was organized by China science and technology administration


The 31st sub-venue of the 12th China Association for Science and Technology Annual Conference-the Cross-Strait Regional Cooperation and Coordinated Development Seminar was solemnly held in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province from November 1 to 3, 2010. As one of the sub-venues of the 2010 China Association for Science and Technology Annual Conference, this conference is jointly sponsored by the China Science and Technology Policy Research Association, Fuzhou University, Taiwan's Donghai University and Kaohsiung University, aiming to promote scholars on both sides of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait to jointly explore the road of the cross-strait coordinated development under the background of globalization, to study how to effectively promote future cross-strait exchanges and cooperation in regional economy and trade, science and technology, education, culture and urban development.

On November 1, scholars from both sides of the Taiwan Strait went to the Fuzhou Strait International Convention and Exhibition Center, the main venue of the annual meeting of the China Association for Science and Technology, to attend the opening ceremony of the annual meeting and listen to a wonderful theme report. On the morning of November 2, the opening ceremony of the seminar on cross-strait regional cooperation and coordinated development was held in Qishan campus of Fuzhou University. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Zhang Bihui, executive vice president of China Science and Technology Policy Research Association, and Professor Fang Xin, deputy secretary of the Party group of Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of China Science and Technology Policy Research Association, delivered a speech. This forum was highly valued by the political and academic circles of Fujian Province. Professor Fu Xianzhi, President of Fuzhou University, attended the meeting and delivered a welcome speech. Professor Huang Yingzhong, President of Kaohsiung University in Taiwan, Researcher Mu Rongping of the Institute of Science and Technology Policy and Management Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Researcher Niu Wenyuan, Deputy Director Zhao Bin of the Development Research Center of the Fujian Provincial People's Government, Professor Su Wenjing of Fuzhou University, and Sui Yinghui of Qingdao Academy of Social Sciences Researcher, Professor Song Xingzhou of Tunghai University in Taiwan, etc. gave lectures. The forum attracted more than 200 people to attend.

With the theme of "Cross-Strait Regional Cooperation and Coordinated Development: Achievements, Opportunities, and Challenges", the forum focuses on creating a win-win future in strengthening cross-strait regional development and industrial exchanges. professor wu xinmu of wuhan university, professor liu zeyuan of dalian university of technology, professor xi yongqin of fuzhou university, professor chen xile of xiamen university, and other mainland scholars, as well as Taiwanese scholars from Kaohsiung University, Tunghai University, and Chung Hwa University in Taiwan, respectively, in "Economic and Trade Cooperation and Industrial Development", "Politics, Law and Social Policy", "Science and Technology and Cultural Undertakings", "Urban Development and Planning", and "Educational Exchanges and Cooperation", "Tourism and Leisure" and other topics. The content covers the issues of industrial coordination, science, education and culture, economic and trade cooperation, and innovation system that are of common concern to both sides of the strait; at the same time, in view of how to strengthen the regional development of both sides of the strait, especially the coordinated development of Fujian and Taiwan, this paper deeply discusses how to achieve industrial docking and how to effectively give full play to the role of the government and universities. The reports and comments of experts not only involve theoretical construction, but also put forward specific policy recommendations; they not only discuss specific industrial development strategies, but also put forward insights in the coordinated development of science, technology and education.

One of the highlights of this conference is the holding of the "Cross-Strait Doctoral Forum" aimed at promoting academic exchanges between young students on both sides of the strait ". More than 10 doctoral students from Kaohsiung University, Donghai University, Zhejiang University, Dalian University of Technology and other universities conducted enthusiastic discussions on cross-strait cooperation in science and technology, economy and trade, and some innovative ideas that emerged have been praised by experts and scholars on both sides of the strait. Through exchanges between scholars, this meeting has enhanced the participants' further understanding of the development history and environment of the two sides of the strait, and is full of confidence in promoting a win-win future between the two sides of the strait, and believes that there is no doubt about the necessity of cross-strait cooperation. I hope that scholars on both sides of the strait, especially doctoral students, can further expand cross-strait exchanges and cooperation and work together for cross-strait development.

At this meeting, Kaohsiung University and Fuzhou University signed a sister school agreement and reached a consensus on specific project cooperation; Fuzhou University and the Chinese Society for Science and Technology Policy exchanged souvenirs with Kaohsiung University. It is expected that the "Second Cross-Strait Regional Development Doctoral Forum" will be held in Taiwan in 2011 ".
