How Humans Face Death

First of all, Professor Zhou Cheng delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the organizer. He said that due to many factors, Chinese people have been secretive about death. In today's China, compared with the increasing material life, the "quality of death" of the Chinese people is still nowhere to be placed, and death education is even more empty. However, death is a natural state that everyone must face. How to face the problem of death is a compulsory course for individual life. The problem of life and death is equally important. This is also the reason why the Qingming Forum of Peking University was held.

Academician Han Qide made a keynote report. He believed that the Qingming Forum should aim at life education and provide guidance and guidance on the death concept of Chinese people. At the same time, it turns education and guidance into action, starting from farewell places, ceremonies and other aspects, and combining different fields to advance together, so that people can feel the warmth, common feelings and peace at the time of death, and finally surpass the anxiety and nothingness of death.

Professor Ge Jianxiong made an opening speech. He proposed that in the process of human history, there are more dead than living, and the process of death occurs more than the process of life. While idealists see death as the beginning of a transition into another realm, or a transition from material to spirit, materialists see death as the disappearance of the human body as material and the spirit dependent on it.

Ideas and Human Nature

Professor Hu Yi'an introduced the origin, current situation and trend of contemporary life and death science in China. He said that contemporary Chinese life and death studies combine the inheritance of traditional culture with the input of western resources, showing a trend of discipline, popularization and specialization. In the future, a discipline system with "life and death" as the central category will be constructed to promote the study of life and death into the classroom and into reality.

Professor Wang Yifang opened the philosophical face of death and believed that the philosophy of death is the iceberg base of life education and death counseling, which is related to faith and value, love and wisdom. He quoted Marcel's "death theory of relatives" and believed that the death of relatives is not due to nothingness, emotional experience can still be linked between the dead and the living, and there is still a continuous "you and me" relationship.

In addition, Director An Youzhong, Professor Tian Song and Director Liu Duanqi respectively delivered speeches on disability and death, death ability and living wills, discussing the reconstruction of death culture and concept of life and death, the development of "good death education" and "living in the present" life education, so as to make reasonable and effective use of health resources.

Soothing and settling

Director Yihua said that the social value of funeral service is reflected through the sense of ritual, which makes "death" stand up and cover dignity like "life. At the same time, Yihua proposed that under the promotion of the government, society, academia, and public opinion, the popularization of "life education and death counseling" by the Chinese people can be described as the right time, and the education, medical, funeral, and media circles should all be life. Part of the education community.

With the title of Death in the Media, Professor He Renfu focuses on two media forms that are closely related to individual death, namely obituaries and epitaphs, and through this basic media literacy, we construct our attitude towards death and awareness of life through the images of death provided by the media.

Director-General Luo Dian introduced the WeChat application of the "Choice and Dignity" website of the Beijing Life Wills Promotion Association-"Five Wishes for My Palm". The purpose of this application is to popularize the latest knowledge of death with dignity, living pre-orders, palliative medical treatment and palliative care, oppose the outdated concept of excessive medical treatment and excessive rescue, and promote the public welfare undertakings advocated by the association.

In addition, Director Liu Mingming, Lu Xiaoya, Lei Aimin and Chen Yan respectively understood and explored death from the perspectives of music therapy, movie death presentation, campus suicide dilemma and western integrated life education.

In the next five years, the Qingming Forum of Peking University will continue to be held, and will continue to operate across borders, regions and disciplines. The theme will also be extended to "death and art", "near death phenomenon and death experience", "legacy of mourning and love.
