Xue Lan

Xue Lan, Professor and Dean of the School of Public Administration of Tsinghua University, Executive Vice Dean of the 21st Century Development Research Institute of Tsinghua University, Director of the China Science and Technology Policy Research Center of Tsinghua University, and Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of Tsinghua University. Xue Lan was awarded Carnegie Mellon University in 1991.


Xue Lan, Professor and Dean of the School of Public Administration of Tsinghua University, Executive Vice Dean of the 21st Century Development Research Institute of Tsinghua University, Director of the China Science and Technology Policy Research Center of Tsinghua University, and Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of Tsinghua University. After receiving a doctorate in engineering and public policy from Carnegie Mellon University in 1991, Xue Lan was hired as an assistant professor at George Washington University. He returned to China in 1996 to teach at Tsinghua University. The main research directions are public policy and management, science and technology policy and innovation management, crisis management, etc. He has won the Tsinghua University Academic Newcomer Award, the Mentor Award, the First Prize for Outstanding Teaching Achievements, the National Natural Science Foundation of China Outstanding Youth Fund Award, and the Changjiang Scholars Distinguished Professor. He is also vice president of the Chinese Society of Administration, vice president of the Society of Science and Technology Policy, vice president of the Chinese Society of Management Sciences, member of the Emergency Management expert Group of the State Council, vice chairman of the National MPA Education steering Committee, (IDRC) director of the International Development Research Center, member of the Advisory Committee of the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University, vice chairman of the Catastrophe Committee of the Global Action Committee of the World Economic Forum, and the International risk Governance.
