About the Side Event

The side-event, themed “AI for 2030 Agenda and Beyond: Inclusion, Accessibility and Equity” will bring together representatives from government, academia, industry, international organizations, and independent bodies to jointly explore how to position AI as a global public good for accelerating SDG achievement and securing a sustainable future for all.

It includes three topics. The first is Inclusion, which refers to developing AI to benefit all countries. It requires an effective Global Partnership (SDG 17) to eliminate technological and financial barriers and narrow the digital divide. The second is Accessibility, which refers to ensuring that all countries can access AI with lower energy (SDG 7) and capital investment. Efforts should be made to enhance the AI capabilities, such as resilient infrastructure (SDG 9). The third is Equity, which refers to providing public goods to eliminate social divergence caused by the rapid development of AI. It needs to find a global solution to ensure that AI will not only bring capital accumulation, but also provide public goods for education, healthcare, STI, etc. It matters to make cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable (SGD 11).

Based on this, the session will ask panelists to present evidence-based models and cases from developed and developing countries to transform AI into a catalyst for sustainable progress.
